PRESENÇA DE CRYPTOCOCCUS NEOFORMANS EM EXCRETAS DE COLUMBA SP. NA CIDADE DE CACOAL, RONDÔNIA, BRASIL

Resumo

Cryptococcus neoformans, Family Filobasidiaceae (CASADEVALL and PERFECT, 1998) is an yeast fungus considered opportunistic by infecting people with problems related to low immunity. They are normally found in various environmental, including the birds’ feces and more specifically the pigeons (Columba sp.). The study aimed to verify the presence of C. neoformans in the environment of urban area in the Cacoal city. And this study was developed to verify the occurrence of C. neoformans in the environment of urban area in the Cacoal city. The methods used follow the guidelines of ANVISA. In this, were collected and analyzed microscopically in the laboratory excreta of 02 points in urban and transit of the people with the presence of pigeons in the city. We did the analyses in cultivation in the appropriate medium, Sabouraud dextrose agar - ASD for confirmation and further identification by characterizing Morphophysiological and dyeing. The results indicated the occurrence of C. neofarmans in all of the fecal samples analyzed collected in the points of the city. Thus, this research suggests that the presence of pigeons in the urban space can provide risk of infection by fungus C. neofarmans to people who pass through these places. It also indicates the need for orientation of the population, mainly in low immunity patients about the risks of infection.
